15hp Mariner oxides

Just cleaned most of the oxides out of an old yamaha Mariner I bought with a tinnie.
I tried flushing it and all sorts of stuff but thought better and ripped the head off and just scraped it out with a screwdriver.
Had to wait a couple of days for a head gasket and thermostat but she is a goer again.
disclaimer. I have two motors the same/similar and forgot to take photos of the cleaned motor before I cleaned it so i just uploaded the photos I had taken of the other motor.

Nice pics...what is it you need? The hidden part of the water jacket is full of the same crap...fill it w/vinegar and soak awhile then pressure flush it.

Don't realy need anything Guy. Just thought I would post and share.
What hidden part do you mean, Have I missed something !

My '78 was pitted so bad from oxidation that I had to mill the surfaces to get them to seal. Hope yours goes back together better. Took me three times.

The one that is coroded badly, I will just use for spares ATM, I work as a fitter/machinist and can get the surface welded up and then machine it, fit a new set of rings but realy couldn't be bothered. The other engine is a good strong runner and i will just keep using it.
