"Trying to get lower end off, removed the six bolts and disconnected shift linkage but lower end will not drop. It dropped maybe an inch. Just enough to get a screw driver in to get at linkage. What am I missing?"

You may have to be 'brutal' and just pry it down. Pumphousing will then need replacement. After that off with the power head, put the shaft in a vice with PH down, and careful knock it off. Don't drop the PH on the floor!!"

"In agreement with Morten. This driveshaft splines frozen into the crankshaft splines scenario is caused by someone neglecting to install the "O" Ring in the top portion of the driveshaft and/or forgetting to grease those driveshaft splines thoroughly.
