1548 Alweld with new motor

I have recently received a 1548 alweld with a 25 hp Suzuki 3-cylinder, am looking at buying a new motor. A buddy of mine suggested to get an evinrude 25 hp etec, would this be a good choice and is a 25 hp enough motor? Boat will be used for mainly duck hunting and fishing.

What's the maximum horsepower rating on the boat ??

From what I could find it is a 20inch transom 40hp max and 4 person. A 35hp long shaft four stroke would be all you would ever need. If your buying new what kind of warranty it has is very important.

Oh yea a nice bow mount trolling motor makes it nice for fishing once you quickly get to the hole.

Is the suzuki a 4strk or 2 strk? How does the boat run with that motor on it? There may be no need to change the motor, if the motor you have provides good performance. An E-tec is an excellent motor but I wouldn't replace a 25 HP with another 25 hp. Suzukis are an excellent engine, take the boat out with a normal load and see how it does may just need to fine tune the prop pitch to have a good performing boat.
