I bought this boat last year a

I bought this boat last year and its a real nice boat for the price but when i took it in for a tune-up they told me they wouldnt touch it because its compression is to low and the prices are ridiculous! So im thinking about putting in new pistons and rings but what i dont know is if i should bore it out? that would depend on the cylinder walls probably but who does that for a reasonable price?

"No need to re bore unless there are physical damage (scoring) on the cylinder walls. If Pistons are not glazed, keep the old ones as well. Might only need new rings.

"a 1979,...would have to be one clean eng,...for me to suggest a rebuild....about the time u do the pwr hd,the LU goes out....but,.....still cheaper that a 15000 dlr new one....
it would have to be a CLEAN,fresh wtr only,....and customer would have to agree to replace all.......electronics,on eng,for me,..to do a 79 150..........but,....i'd do it....late 80's,much better,...mid 90's,even better."
 
Just curious what are the comp

Just curious what are the compressions on the cylinders...did the marine shop tell you? if not ask them and post the results.
