150hp 2 stroke mercury

My 150hp mercury 2 stroke will not run after installing a new fuel pump. It fires with the key on and sometimes runs for a couple of seconds, but won"t run once the key is released. I bled it at the schrader valve but still nothing. The original problem was definitely the fuel pump.
