15014 lower unit

I have another post on this 15014 lower unit but I believe it has become confusing to the reader. I have this lower mated to a 18602. I noticed some screaming from the lower the last time out. Upon inspection the gears look fine but I noticed what could be scoring from the pinion on the lower housing and think it could be the noise. Does this pinion require a washer underneath it to space it away from the housing? I can get one from another lower I believe if needed.One thing of note is this pinion is shorter in comparison to my other 15014 with rusted gears but the other definitely had the washer in place. Bump. I'm going to run it with the washer unless yall think I should do otherwise.Makes sense to me and it is a parts lower,if it makes weird noises then I will shut er down.I will probably have a look after running it hard anyway.
