150 Merc Outboard Wonbt Plane

Early 80's merc 150 V6 won

Early 80's merc 150 V6 won't plane...but it has before. When I go the boat it didn't plane..then I cleaned carbs and ran seafoam and it planed...leads me to believe I have decent compression. Electrical Problem?

"There is not enough information here to ascertain anything...The first step is a compression test...if that tests ok, the next step would be to test for a healthy spark on all 6 cylinders"

"Ok....healthy sparks in cylinder 1 & 6, no to weak spark in remaineder of cylinders. Pulled plug wires from coil and cyliners 1 & 6 are burnt. Obvioulsy it's been runnin on two cylinders? Stator, Trigger, Switchbox, coils?"
