I have a 1984 merc 150 outboard, V-6. The compression in all 6 cylinders is 120, which is good that they are all even...but what should the compression ideally be - 120 or more? What is the compression when new or rebuilt?

I've never seen that data

I've never seen that data published but 120 in all cylinders is excellent. My old 1983 150 ran 113-115 psi.

"On the V6 Mercs anything over 100 psi and all within 10-15 psi of each other is fine.

120 psi was probably about what it was when it rolled off the production line at Merc, so you should be well pleased with that..."
