"have #5455550 but cant match that to anything going to buy this 150 mariner to replace my 150 merc with no compression in 1 cyld. wanted to make sure what i was buying. looks just like my 150 merc v6 2 stroke but its missing air cleaner in front. it turned over good today but no fuel or water around to start it going to try it tommorow, guy says it 98 or 97 this # was from outside on the tag from fond du lac. wanted to see bout parts for this one any ideas thx andy"

"Andy, that's not a good serial for a 150 Mariner.

If it's a 97 or 98 model I would expect the serial to start 0Gxxxxxx (zero, G, then probably a 5 maybe).

If it's at least a 1992 model (or newer) it will be built on Merc's 2.5L block (shared with the 135) - both very popular motors with lot's of parts around both from the dealer and in the aftermarket.

Just curious, any reason you aren't rebuilding your current motor? If you know it's history it may be a safer option than chucking money for someone else's motor that is "so perfect" that they are getting rid of it...."
