I have a 97 150 fast strike 150 that i am puzzled with. Motor has ran great for a long time, but recently the small "bb" seal on the carb bowls started leaking a little. I cleaned the area and applied sealer and thought it was fixed. The next trip out the bottom carb on starboard side started leaking as if the bb fell out. Profuse leak any time engine running. I cleaned everything once again and used a sealer we use at work called 3bond. A real good engine rtv. Let it sit for 3 days before i did anything else. Pumped the bulb up and it stayed hard and no leaks. Fast forward to this past weekend-went fishing and motor starts fine but when put in forward gear it idles rough and sounds different. When trying to accelerate, it bogs and will die. I have a hotfoot if that makes any difference. If i feather it and press the key to choke it seems to help and once it gets past that point it shoots out of the hole and runs normal on top end. Around 5100rpm and 55-56 GPS. I never removed anything to seal the carbs, other than the front carb cover/plenum. I have read you could just reseal the leaks, but is it possible i covered up something that i shouldnt have? Just seems to be something i did because it was fine before, other than a fuel leak. I have bypassed the VRO and pre-mix as well. Any ideas?
