150 EFI quits running

While running at any speed my

While running at any speed my 1996 Merc. EFI will shut down like you turned the key off. It will start up as quick as you can turn the key and may run for 1 min or 1 hr.before doing it again.

Could be one or a combination of many issues.

Give soem more info as to the history of the motor:

Have you owned it since new?
How long has this problem persisted?
Has the motor been standing for the off-season?
Is wiring 100%? Under hood and remote leads...
When last was the motor serviced?

To me it sounds like maybe an issue with one of the fuel pumps, I would suspect the electric."
 
I have owned it since new.Its

I have owned it since new.Its been doing this about a year. It has almost died two times and recovered but has died completely otherwise. The motor is ran at least two times a month all year long. The switch has been replaced as well as the fuel filters. It has been in the shop and all connections checked and some replaced.

"Are there any pressure switches for the fuel system? How similar is the ignition system to that of a car? Might need a pulse from the crankshaft to trigger spark? My guess would be somewhere in the stator or switchbox. Maybe there is a voltage leak from the stator when it warms up?

Try find another motor to swap the parts out. Be careful not to fry anything.

I'm not too familiar with this motor, but some principles stay the same."
