15 hp johnson oil seepage

I went to the lake today and m

I went to the lake today and motor ran fine but as i was leaving i noticed thick black oil coming from a very small hole on the front left side of the lower unit. (if looking at it from the back) also when i got home i pulled the plug on the l/u and the oil there was very milky and ran out easily without loosening the upper screw. So i guess im getting water in there but what is the black oil coming from.....any thoughts would be helpful.}

"The black oil is carbon and unburnt 2-stroke oil from the exhaust system. No danger, but perhaps you should try to decarbonize the engine with 'engine tuner' or similar product.
The gear housing seems to be n need of some new seals!"

One more question though, is there anything else i might need to replace just from taking the prop off or anything inside that i should keep an eye out for??? Again, thanks for the response."

"After replacing the seals and impeller, check the funcion of the thermostat. If the engine runs cold it would build more carbon, except for idling problems etc!"
