I have a johnson 15 hp that kinda runs rough and the upper plugs doesnt burn good I have not did a compresion test on it but I supect it needs a ring job maybe piston too . I have rebuilt the carb and water pump and im thinking piston and rings are next on the list so I have a few question if somebody would be so kind to add some input ..
How long will it take to do the rebuild 8 hrs. if the exhaust isnt stuck on?? if it is what the trick to gettting it loose ??
Is it possible to do a piston and ring job without pulling apart the bottom end ??
if I do pull the bottom end should I do rod caps and bearing though out ??
While I have it apart should I do the reed valve's??
when its apart should go ahead and dress up the intake and exhaust with a dremel tool like you would on a motorcycle engine ??Take off all the sharp edges and do some polishing ?/
