15 hp evinrude ignition problem?

I am looking for help with a 1995 15 hp REOD rope ignition. I had a short in the wires between the powerpack and stator assembly due to a slight overheat from a bad waterpump impeller. Fixed the impeller and fixed the shorts in 3 of the 4 wires leading to stator assembly. Engine runs great but cuts out when it gets warmed up . Could it be a bad powerpack from the shorting wires? Please help, it would be greatly appreciated.
 
Put a timing light on it and see how spark behaves when it cuts out.May help pinpoint which cylinder is acting up.-The coils are one assembly on that motor.---------If wires melted then I would call it a severe overheat.------------Have you checked the thermostat assembly ??
 
I used a ignition tester after engine cut out, no spark. that's why I thought powerpack-- could be coil too. Have not checked thermostat yet.
 
Put a peak voltage meter on both the stator as well as the sensor coil (trigger) while the connector is still connected and check what is goin on while the engine is hestitating, now you can easy see which part fails.
