I had the impeller replaced on

I had the impeller replaced on my 2002 15 hp 4-stroke recently and now find oil dripping out of the prop area. Can this be due to improper seal replacement for the impeller or is it more likely the lower unit prop seal has also just sprung a leak? thanks for any insight.

Try pressure and vacuum test t

Try pressure and vacuum test the gearcase.

Simple replacement of the impe

Simple replacement of the impeller shouldn't have disturbed any of the seals to the gear case. Sounds like you may have a leaking prop shaft seal. Have you check the lube for water intrusion?

"Thanks, John. I did not think there was a connection, but I wanted to be sure. I have not used the motor since purchasing it and had the fluids and impeller changed right away while working on the boat, itself. Mechanic made no mention of water intrusion in the lower unit, thus my question."
