"I got a 15 hp 2004 merc, runs

"I got a 15 hp 2004 merc, runs like a champ . Only problem is Im spinning a prop every time I hit the water. Im running in 6ft of water and am very puzzled. I ve checked prop torque specs and the exploded veiws in manuals to see if I have missing parts. what appaers to be happening is the prop runs to tight to the lower unit and wears in to the prop causing it to bind and I guess this is what strips the prop. I have the type that uses the props with the rubber insert. If any one has any idea what i can do to remedy this it would be greatly appreciated. My fishing time is taking a serious hit because I cant afford to replace a prop every time I get the boat wet."

Is there a thrust washer on the prop shaft for the prop to seat on?

yes I have the proper thrust w

yes I have the proper thrust washer.and upon further in spection it appears the drive shaft is recessed to far into the lower unit. Appaerently the shaft has a shoulder that the thrust washer seats on providing the spacing required. so now I have to figure out how or why the shaft is recessed to far in causing friction on th shaft housing. thanx for replying tony any other advice is still apprciated. mac
