12V to 24V trolling motor plug

I am changing a 12V Motor Guide trolling motor to a 24V Minn Koto Ulterra. My boat presently has 3 8-gauge wires (red, orange, & black) from the batteries to the front where the trolling motor is. The old trolling motor was 12V and only used the red and black wires. Can I connect the batteries in series to get 24V and connect both the red and orange wires to the 24V output? I realize that I would have to connect the orange and red wires together and then connect them to the plug. I know the best thing is to run new 6-gauge wires, but I'm having difficulty finding a way to pull them. The boat is a 17' Triton aluminum TC17 crappie boat. Access to spaces is complicated. Is there a trolling motor plug that will connect the 2 2V wires in series in the plug? I'm pretty sure I've seen a plug like that, but I don't know where to find one.

really no need (or benefit) to paralleling the two positive wires. I would go with the orange and the black up to the trolling motor and connect them to the batteries with a jumper to make them series connected for the 24 VDC...
