125HP Merc Floods after running.

Hi Everyone. New to this form. I have a 1990 125 HP 2 cycle oil injected outboard that floods after it has been run for 10 minutes. I'll make a run to a fishing spot and fish for 20 minutes to an hour and try to start the motor and it is flooded (bulb is hard). I disconnect the fuel line and open the throttle up and it starts, creating a huge cloud of smoke. I hook the fuel line up and if it hasn't cleared the plugs yet it will load up and die. Replaced floats and needles in the carbs. Provided a short cure 3 uses. Back to the same thing. Rechecked carbs with no notable problems. Checked float levels again and they were still good. I have had it load up and quite while running slow. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Still trying to figure this one out. Boat has an on board fuel tank (55 gallon). I came up with idea that maybe my tank isn't venting when I stop. I left the take cap open when I took the boat out for the day and everything worked great. No flooding and flawless starts and runs. Still not positive this is the problem so I'll make a few more trips on the lake before I say this is the cure. Any body out there that has any ideas I sure would entertain them. Tight lines.

Not venting properly causes the opposite problem: Fuel starvation.

I suspect crude is getting past your filter (that should be located after the fuel pump).

I thought the same thing. No fuel starvation, runs strong at WOT for 15 miles. Fuel bowls are always clean water separator has no water or debris in it. The cap open was discovered by accident when it was discovered that grand daughter thought it was fun to push the button and the cap would flip open. She forgot to close it and I made a run with it open and start up was quick with no flooding. Wierd.
