How to test the Stator and or coil pac? Running fine and slowed down(lost power) Picked back up about 500 yards and Quit. Would not start. Got towed to the sand bar where I could get to the Cowl, No spark on any cylinder. Got her home and ready to test, Never did any outboard motor repair but can't be more complicated the an Elevator door controller. Or can it? lol

The stator and trigger coil circuits need to be there--not open. Get a wiring diagram and start checking them. You have to remove at least one wire of each pair to check for continuity. If any of the circuits are open, there's your problem.

Jeff

PS: Does your motor have a tilt switch? If so, disconnect it and check for spark.

Yes checked the 2 yellow wires all go to ground also checked the coil pacs and they all go to ground as well. Would this meen the stator is shorted?

Great information thanx for the chart ! So I say it is the stator after all. I do have a few other things to check as well. But know what to look for and how to check it. Thanx will let you know how it turns out. I travel 4 days a week so may be a couple weeks.

Ok way more simple than that ! It actually turned out to be a short in the low Oil sensor. Disconected it and Fired right up ! My machanic says this motor is in Great shape. I did not have a DVA converter and after talking to my Machanic he told me to try disconnecting the oil sensor.I did and wallah!!
