120hp Mariner gear adjustment after water pump replacement

Can anyone advise on the best way to get shifter and gears in time? Water pump replacement went smooth... but now lower unit clicks when turning the prop. Any advice would be appreciated.

It should, in forward; that's normal. It should NOT in neutral, however.
