120HP cutting out

Hi Engine cuts out after about

Hi Engine cuts out after about 4 minutes running. Fuel manual priming bulb is hard. Engine will restart after a while then is fine for rest of day. Happens every time I take boat out at start of trip.
Any help please.

Year is 1989, model number AJ120TLCCA.
Have chaged filter,different fuel lines, tank & fuel.Also cleaned carbs.
Do you think I need to pull fuel pump apart?
Motor runs fine at all rev ranges normally after restarted from cut out.
It has cut out when just idling along & at medium speed.
When it cuts out, it just seems to stop dead, just like turning ignition key off.
I have tried moving lanyard emergency switch whilst engine is running, & there doesn,t seem to be any problems.
Maybe next time it does it, I should check for ignition spark.
Because fuel bulb is hard when it cuts out, I would think that the problem isn't fuel related"
 
What do you have to do to get

What do you have to do to get the engine restarted?will it start and run well immediately without you doing anything?how hard is that fuel bulb when it fails before you try to pump fuel with it?it should not be sucked dry but it should not be completely full either after running..the decision we have to make is between a fuel or a ignition problem....i would put an inductive timing light on one plug and run it til it fails..if that plug fails on light make sure more than one is failing..the two basic things you need to do are check compression and check to make sure you have a spark that will jump a 5/16 inch gap....if the problem is electrical its probably a stator or a power pack....either will strand you on the water sooner or later...

"Jim, I do have a service and parts manual for a 125 hp 1990 I would think alot would be similar, some of the more expeinced guys on this site could advise us on that, so if you need any info give a shout, I'll look it up and respond. just as a point of intrest my 125 was doing a similar thing, replaced stator plate and cleaned carbs, but i did'nt ask the tech the main source of the problem, i was in too much of a hurry to get back on the water.
