Hi

I've got problems starting a 115hp mercury from cold. This is a well used engine and has only been lying idle for a couple of weeks. I went to start it today and it sounded like the battery was flat. After attaching the battery to 2 different booster units and then trying a completely different battery i was getting the same result. The starter motor just didn't seem to have enough power to kick the engine into life. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Any help would be much appreciated.

"Adam, Check the battery cables for coorosion on the ends and through out the cables themselves. Ditto on the starter solenoid cables. If that all checks out, perhaps the starter is corroded internally."

"Thanks Chris, I'll give them a check this weekend. I think they are all original and look a bit worse for ware so its maybe time to replace.
