115 Mariner won't start

I just got a boat that has been sitting for 10 years with a 115 Mariner on it. I disconnected the fuel line and put a hot battery on it sprayed gas into all four carbs and it didn't start. I pulled off each spark plug wire and used a screw driver from spark plug boot to ground to check for spark and no spark. I would doubt that all four coils are bad. I am needing some help on what to do next. I pulled all four spark plugs out and they look ok to try and start(not fouled looking kinda brown) and spun the motor over. I haven't checked compression but when I put the plugs back in and spun it over you can tell it has compression.

Racerone if you are talking about the forward and reverse control box there is a little on off switch at the bottom of it and I think I tried it in both positions but I will try that again. When I put it in the forward position or reverse position the motor wont spin over, it spins over like it is supposed to in the neutral position so that part of it is working correctly.

Kill switch must be in the " on " position.-- I would also replace the waterpump impeller.------You must confirm that the carburetors are clean or you may risk damage to the motor from a plugged carburetor.----------Mix gas and oil at 50:1 until you confirm that oil injection is working properly as well.

I am going to run home real quick and try it with the switch on the control box on. I am definitely going to replace the water pump after I make sure it runs. The carbs are definitely going to have to be cleaned, I see good ole brown goo stains from a couple of the air bleeds. I have been spraying mixed gas directly in the carbs just to start it. I will follow your advice on the fuel until I determine the oil injection is working. Thank you Racerone

I tried it with the switch on and still no spark> It is a Quick Silver 3000 series control box with a little red switch at the bottom that says run and off, and it has no spark in either position.

Serial # of the motor ??----You can try to disconnect the " kill wire " at the powerpack ( if equipped with one ) look for a black / yellow stripe wire.------Failing that you may have to test stator and trigger circuits.------Info can be found searching for ------cdi electronics.

I found the serial # tag but I can't read any # at all on the tag. There is a # that I can see when I tilt the motor all the way up 3408-818904-C1 I don't think it is the serial # but this is the only # on the engine. The one on the serial # tag is gone.( I wish it was stamped on the tag instead of printed) I don't have the title yet to get it from there. mariner 115.jpgmariner.jpg
