I have a 115 Johnson
Hydro-Electric drive
Model: 115ESL70D
Serial: J3342448

I think it is stuck in gear. When I turn the switch to start it, it turn slow and the propeller turns to. A friend gave me the motor and he said the motor was running and it just shut off and never started again. If I can get it out of gear I think I will be able to start it. Please help.

"If I remember right (i had a 1969 55hp johnson with hydro elec. shift) the solenoid is in the lower end (or foot). What lube are you useing? hydro elec. shift is a diferent lube, type c I think."
 
if you got the elctric diogram

if you got the elctric diogram ok but first wen you try to get out of gear do you ear the solonoys sound if not check to see if power whit tester 12 volt dc a pair of pearcing probe will be a_+ get somwound to prest on control fower or reverse to see for power going to solonoy
 
That motor HAS TO BE RUNNING t

That motor HAS TO BE RUNNING to shift.The oil pump has to turn to provide pressure to shift.Not running it will always be in forward.
