"OK GUYS I still need some help!!! I have reviewed the service manual. The trim and tilt performs every operation it should with the exception of the tilt. The unit will hold for the shallow drive under power, reverse lock holds and the unit will trim in and out. The unit will hold position for days without any drift down. The trim out seems a little weak but will work if you take the throttle back to idle. The tilt will work only if you assist it. What is the most probable cause. I am thinking the hydro pump is weak. Your thoughts?"

"the first thing,i would do,..is re-seal trim pistons,and tilt piston...if no good then,...i would ck the pressure of the unit,ck man rel valve,...i would then ck w/a special tool,a nut looking deal u screw the valves into ,pressurize in wtr,and see if they are all good,....still no good,..i would pull the elect mtr,..and ck screen on top of pump,(your pressure ck by the book should indicate if this is a prob).
The best thing you can do,is bust it down,..completely,..reseal everything,if elect motor is weak,.or corroded,now is the time to repl it...test all valves as above..(or better-replace them)...and try it...if everything has been done properly,and still a prob,then i would blame the pump,..and inst a new one.."
 
i do not know how to work this

i do not know how to work this site well. but i have a 1983 115 hp outboard engine. i would like to know what kind of gas and mixture i need and the ratio?
