I just switched from a 1985 Evinrude 120 to a 1995 Johnson 115. Everything went fine except the tilt trims not working. It will not go up or down. I here the relays click when I hook the battery up. when I push the switch at the console or on the motor nothing happens. When I push the limit switch in the motor will go down. How can I test the motors to see if they work in the up direction. Im leaning in the direction of a bad limit switch, but not sure. I dont have a manual for this engine so I not sure what wires to use to make the motor go up. any help would be a great help.

There is only one trim motor.--------Find the wiring plug that goes to the trim motor and pull it apart.---------Use jumper wires to apply positive to one wire and negative to the other wire.----------Motor should turn.----Reverse those 2 wires and motor should again turn in the opposite direction.

I testrd the, motor at the plug it works fine. The relays are also fine. I just have nothing when i push the buttons at the helm or at the motor.

I figured it out it was the tilt trim switch on the motor, grounding the system out. Can anyone tell me the part number for the switch.

????-----It was not an option.-------The switch for the lower cowling is clearly shown under the trim/tilt electrical page.
