i recently bought this boat an

i recently bought this boat and have had no problems what so ever till last weekend. the boat started up fine and then we took it up the lake and came to a spot and i shut it off for a minute. it was only off for maybe 5 min. but it would not crank again. since buying the boat i have taken it out around 8 or 10 times now so this suprised me very much. the motor is in great shape for the age and i know it something simple. when turning the key i hear a "click" "click" so i -pulled the cover off and my guess is the solenoid is not makeing the started kick in cause it didn't move. can it be something eles? i know it's not the battery becuase it was charged plus i try to get a jump before getting pulled in that day. any advice before i start buying parts?"

"Check all of the battery conn

"Check all of the battery connections as well as all the connections at the solenoid and the starter for corrosion and tightness. If that doesn't solve the problem, the starter can be tested by applying 12V from a battery directly to the starter. If that is ok, then it probably is the solenoid."

thanks a lot. I will check all

thanks a lot. I will check all connections and starter this afternoon. would I hear the "click" "click" from the solenoid if it was bad? can it still get enough power to make the sound and not power (or connection) to engage the starter (if it is the connections somewhere)?

A "click" sound very o

A "click" sound very often means a bad connection somewhere. It's comparable to the clicking a car makes when the battery is dead or a connection is loose.

"The 'click' sound mea

"The 'click' sound means that the primary part of the solenoid works but it may not let the battery power/amps through. Put a volt meeter where the cable goes to the starter and check. If no voltage or below 9,5 volts replace the solenoid.Do the same check at the input sid too to be sure there is not a poor connection from the battery that makes the voltage drop when load is put on."

thanks alot guys. i check both

thanks alot guys. i check both the solenoid and the start. i didn't trust my test so i pulled both off and took the starter up to parts store and had them check it. the starter did spin one time but that was it. nothing eles. it was a superise that it was the starter cuase it never showed any sign of weakness. in the end i put a new starter on and it is running again.
