115 Hp 2 Stroke- Trouble with keeper pin, trying to replace water pump

Anyone have a trick for removing the pin from the shaft when trying to replace the waterpump assembly?
I removed the impeller and now can't get the pin out of its slot on the shaft. Can't go any further with the repair 'til i can get that pin out.

I should have said I've left it "soaking" with some PB Blaster on it. My experience with other pumps, is the key came out pretty easy, so this one's got me stumped. I could slide the new impeller over the old key, but I'd really like to replace the bottom plate and gasket.

I good metal chisel and a hammer will do it. Make sure to hit it hard.

yep, if not you need to grind it out, done that before

use center punch or diamond point chisel and hit upper side or down side of woodruff key.

finally banged it out. man, i thought i was going to beat a hole through the drive shaft getting it out.
