I ran my 1997 115 evinrude throudh some mud . I powered through it how my motor is not running right. it's nothing I can think of but it seans to not run like it was.

What do you mean by not running " right " ----------------Is it stalling / idling poorly / running too hot.--------------Information may get you answers.

If a overheating problem is taking place, causing the S.L.O.W. feature to engage (knocks out ignition on one bank), read on.

After "plowing" thru mud, I'd suggest dropping the lower unit and dismantling the water pump at a minimum. It may simply need a good cleaning but even if all is well pump wise, replace the impeller.

Also a good idea to attach a water hose to the copper water intake tube to force flush out whatever mud may be caked up in those water passages.

Check the thermostat(s) and related passageways if overheating should still take place.
