1060-? seahorse

I have an old 1060 something Johnson Seahorse. It sems like it is only running at1/2 throttle. When I stop to fish, it won't start back up again. HELLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!

What's the model number of that engine?

We'll also need a better description of the problem ie..... "wont start back up again" means..... Electric starter doesn't work, manual starter isn't working, engine cranks over but doesn't fire, what?

Yes, it turns over but will not fire up. Where do i fin the number on the engine?

Small plate on outer surface of the port transom bracket, also may be on a small core plug on the powerhead.

1963 40hp Johnson (Not a 1060).

Remove s/plugs (Plugs should be either Champion J4C or J6C plugs, gapped at .030). Chack compression. What is the PSI reading? Should be 100+ psi and even on all cylinders.

With s/plugs removed, test for spark which should jump a 1/4" gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP! Does it?

If compression and spark is as it should be, the usual problem is a fouled, clogged, gummed, carburetor. In which case, remove, clean, and rebuild it.
