07 merc timing

I just rebuilt the carbs and having problems setting up the timing and fuel air mix screws. My book says to set the idle timing at set up specs + 2degrees. my motor is a 90 hp 2 stroke. A sticker on the motor cover says to set idle spark at 6 btdc & 2 atdc, that is whats confusing me. Do i use the screw that says idle speed for the idle timing & then leave it alone. I started the fuel air screws at 1 1/2 turns. Any help on setting up the correct idle spark setup & procedure + the fuel air screws would be great. The carb floats ar set at 9/16 & have been cleaned & have new needles , gasgets etc ,all new stuff. Thanks Tim

I guess i made this problem sound more complicated than it was. I finally talked to a mechanic that explained that the idle timing is not that critical. I adjusted the idle speed screw which is also the timing advance at idle to about 8 to12 degrees btdc to start. I started the fual air screws at 1 1/2 & backed them off with the enging idleing to about 1 1/8 then slowed the idle speed screw to about 1100 rpms. The engine is now running fine.
