05' Mercruiser 350 High Oil Temperture cutoff

So I changed my oil on Saturday put it in the water today. When I accelerate the Sea Ray 260DA (Sundancer) and the RPMs reach ~3500 the smartcraft Guardian kicks in and put the boat at idle. I oil level is right in the middle, the oil I used was Quicksilver 25w-40, new filter, etc. When all this happens the Oil pressure is somewhere around 57 PSI... right then is when the Guardian kicks in. What else can I check?

- I don't have a mechanical oil pressure guage
- It only does it in gear
- Gear lube level is good

Any ideas of things I can change that are cheaper than taking it to my dealer?
Anything else I can check?
 
If it didnt do it before you cnanged the oil , simply changing the oil would have no effect. Without installing a mechanical gauge to verify the electrical sender you really dont know what the pressure is.What it the engine temp and the water pressure
 
The water pressure and the temperature are both well inside the green. The thing with the oil pressure is, the gauge reads about 45 PSI at idle and then goes up to about 57 PSI at the higher PSI, then just before the needle goes out of the green area, the SmartCraft Guardian kicks in and says OVERSPEED RPM reduced to 96% and the alarm beeps until I lower the throttle to idle. then it seems good again...It acts as if the oil is too thick, its weird. The other different thing is when I changed the oil I didn't get a lot out of the engine, it was at the very tip of the dipstick. But when I replaced the oil I obviously filled it to the top of the OK oil level bar of the dipstick. Since the alarm has been going off, I removed a QT or so and now the oil level is at the half way mark...
 
So I have determined that it's got to be the Oil Pressure Relief valve. Apparently it gets stuck sometimes when the boat sits for awhile. So, since I cannot find videos or pictures with instructions on how to change that, I am having a marine company do it for me...question is, has anyone ever had this done to their Mercruiser and how much did it cost?
 
Had to replace the oil pump in 2 motors that sat for a long time,the pressure reliefe is in the oil pump , pull the motor , drop the pan R/R the oil pump.
Before you go that route, install a mechanical gauge to verify the reading

Get the engine checked out by a reputable Tech.
