"I'm having a problem with the engine stalling at low RPM. After stall engine will start, run ruff, then stall. I wait about an hour and it will start and run fine. Problem comes and goes. I have checked from the tank pick up tube to the engine for cracks-holes-leaks, and found nothing. Called local marine shop and asked if they could run a computer diagnostic on the engine, and they said that I/they would have to "recreate" the problem in order to begin troubleshooting it. Does this sound correct?"

"Not if the shop has the proper test equipment. Trouble codes will be stored in the computer.
Is this a fuel injected engine? If so, could be a bad temperature sensor or throttle position sensor.
Without the proper testing equipment, you are doing nothing but guessing.

"I would suspect the shift interrupt switch to be hanging, or bad shift cable adjustment.
I do not think the switch stores a code, as it is not considered a 'fault'. However if hooked to a comp, one may see if the switch is activated at the same time as the problem is there.
try first to lubricate the switch and adjust shift cables. Next time it happens just 'wiggle' the remote half in and out of gear."
