Hello - - My electric starter motor works fine when it is cold but after about 2-3 hrs of light use (typically trolling or drifting in idle/off) my starter will not work at all. Just recently I had to trim and reconnect the two yellow wires (these split into 4 and then feed the CDM coil packs so i assume this is some type of power to them?) because they were were fried, likely to a lose connection. Motor ran fine after that in the drive-way. Than i stranded myself for a short while in the bay dazzled as to why absolutely nothing was happening. I could hear choke click so that was getting power. I was able to get home pulling starting luckily. Didnt have my multimeter on me so couldnt really trouble shoot then.

thinking it could be my solenoid?

Any ideas or thoughts to what my issue could be?

Motor is 03 125 HP ELPTO

Well you can easily eliminate the solenoid with a pair of common pliers next time you are out. When it acts up, using the part that is usually in your hand, and grasping the business ends in your hands...gloves would help control your "jitters"...jump across the two 3/8" brass studs.

If problem is solved obviously it has to do with the solenoid but what? 2 problems usually are pitted contacts whereby the coil is energized by the remote control start switch sending 12v down the Yellow/Red Stripe wire to the control windings, energizing the plunger inside the unit, but in closing there isn't enough contact area to carry the 150 amperes required to roll you engine.

Other thing is that that wire Imentioned, isn't delivering 12v to that solenoid energizing terminal.....or the ground isn't getting ground on the other signal connector on the solenoid.
