New guy here from Ohio. Been searching for days to no avail. The issues I'm having is my motor went from running fine one day to not going over 2000 rpm the next. It doesn't matter if the motor is in gear or neutral it will not go over 2000. One time for about 2 seconds it bumped up to around 2500. All fueldelivery systems are fine carb is clean went through that Saturday all new fuel lines primer bulb functions properly.
Plugs were black when pulled completed a spark test with tester gapped between 3/8 and 1/2 inch with what I feel is good spark compression on both cylinders was 90 and 91 psi.
The motor still fires at the tap of the key and idles smooth as can be. Any input is appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out not being able to diagnose the problem
Motor is a 2002 Merc 9.9 4 stroke remote electric start
