01 Optimax smartcraft gauges

Have a 01 225 optimax w/smartcraft, the lenses on the VDO gauges used by merc are clouded on the inside, they no longer make these, VDO does no answer email on replacement of redo, faria make replacement smartcraft gauges that I would love to use, but some say they will work, some say not sure or don't think so. now new merc gauges I am told will work but are twice the cost, so looking to see if anyone has actually done a gauge replacement and what they used and if worked and showed all items ? thanks Rob
