00' 150 Johnson stalls getting on plane after initial start up

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any advice. I have a carb 00 150 Johnson that stalls out when trying to get on plane after first starting the motor. It idles all day with no problem but when I put it in gear and try to give it throttle the motor quits while trying to get on plane. After a few attempts of feathering the throttle it takes off like a rocket ship and runs great. It runs like a top from then on out until you shut the motor off and it sets for a while then the same issue appears again on start up. Sounds to me like a jet issue but I don't know much about outboards. Thx again

Thx for the info Jwbmarine. I checked the timing roller but according to the pics it was already in the correct position...

Idle jets check your manual for the correct size and go from there, This is what I experienced when I was playing around with my idle jets per Boyesen Reeds on my engine..Just my 2 cents
