    60 hp & 6 hp kicker steering tension

    Great forum New to maintaining outboards. Have a 60 hp 1997 model E60TLECM, is there a way to tighten the tension on the pivot. Let go of steering wheel at a trolling speed motor turns hard to the starboard side. I couple this to a 6 hp 1999 E6R4EEM for fishing, hard to fish alone & set lines.

    1999 6hp stop switch motor model # E6R4EEM

    The motor will start without the restart clip in place & can not kill motor with stop button. Is the stop switch gone, do not want to spend $80-$90 dollars for new stop switch, can the wire be cut & a toggle switch installed?? Thanks guys
