    1989 omc 3.0 cobra, clacking chatter

    When starting my boat if the drive is trimmed up but still in the water there is a clacking noise that sounds like its in the outdrive. It is very noticeable when the engine is reved up.

    First off, not a marine tech so I guess its a bell housing. I posted the "no spark" a couple days ago. Again thanks for the quick and helpful responses. The Boat sat out one season before I got it. Now that it runs it takes about a minute before water starts to come out of the flywheel dust...

I've Checked for proper voltage, voltage drop and anything to do with powering ignition system. There is one little box listed as a shift assist I have not replaced...
