Please Identify this trim pump for a 1995 Mariner 90

Hello all. I’ve been struggling for months trying to find a replacement power trim pump for my 1995 90hp 2-Stroke Mariner project. All part numbers that I have located via Merc and aftermarket refer me to various trim pumps with the square gasket, whereas mine is a round gasket/O-Ring. See below pictures. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Are you looking for a new pump assembly or O-rings to rebuild? in which the O-rings would come in a kit.

Here's your trim pump and there are aftermarket options if desired, https://www.marineengine.com/parts/mercury_marine_parts/sn/0G073696/7090412CD/554_350

Here's all your engine parts, https://www.marineengine.com/parts/mercury_marine_parts/sn/0g073696

If you want a new Mercury pump, it looks like this place may have 1 left in stock as they are considered no longer available, https://www.crowleymarine.com/marin...ack-fill-plug-s-n-usa-0g360002-bel-9934136-be

Usually if you're looking for good used ones then grab the desired part number and search it out on Ebay as sometimes you'll find it there.

Thank you, but Unfortunately all of those links refer to the following part numbers, all of which have the square seal. 8M0171817, 0G360002, & 824052. I have purchased two of the above parts and will need to return them. The round seal unit only seems to exist on the parts diagram. What am I missing here?

Looks like you have opened up the housing to where there are 2 designs of O-rings, the higher (top) side of one looks square and the lower one looks round.

Here's a few photos of 8M0171817 opened up, maybe that will be of some help in a visual, https://www.ebay.com/itm/295336768841?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5338678874&toolid=20006&customid=s%3AGS%3Bgc%3Aaeca24988c3e11ad303f40d7b5c4ea9d%3Bpt%3A1%3Bchoc%3A1&customid=s:GS;gc:aeca24988c3e11ad303f40d7b5c4ea9d;pt:1;choc:2&msclkid=aeca24988c3e11ad303f40d7b5c4ea9d

That motor is not compatible. See photos at the top. I need the round O ring setup, not square. I get that I need to upgrade the relays and change to a two wire. I’m still stuck. Thanks!

This is the correct motor as it has been superseded twice...our you can buy the OEM listed motor. You cannot buy any parts for the square Prestolite motor.

Again, it’s not possible to fit that motor and reservoir the my round base with a round o-ring. I cannot seem to find a part number to change the base to fit the newer square reservoir. Again see my picture below.

The pump manifold diagram is what is needed. I purchased the Marine / Mercury service manual and it does not show disassembly of this version manifold. I has detailed exploded images of the yellow cap assembly but not this black cap pump.

Did you ever find this exploded view of the pump assembly? I am in the same boat I believe, where I've disassembled the whole thing, but now i'm not sure how exactly to put it all back together. Any help would be great. You can email me at [email protected].

Thank you for your help. I am very familiar with the online parts catalog as I use it pretty religiously. I also purchased a complete service manual for my motor. The problem is that the power trim motor that's on my engine was superceded by a slightly newer version a few years after its initial production, hence you see the split by serial number listed in the parts catalog. The service manual has disassembly and assembly instructions for both versions of the motor, but the diagrams of the pump I have are far fewer and less detailed than the diagrams of the newer version. I am looking for an exploded view of the pump and manifold assembly that includes the valves and everything underneath the part I have outlined in my screenshots attached. Both screenshots are from the service manual.

Those parts would be assemblies, each having their own part numbers.

Any diagrams that might be available would have been created by the company that manufactured those assemblies for Mercury.

If the assembly fails it is considered as being non-repairable. Throw it out and buy a new one.

I suspect that you won't be finding any diagrams.

Thanks anyway. I appreciate the help.

The two following linked parts breakdown doesn’t offer a helpful guide for what you’re in need of?

Sometimes you might be able to find a different parts / more thorough parts diagram in either a service manual produced before or after your year model just depending on how/when that unit was used and for how long…plus some may also offer a part number sheet to a breakdown too.

Never mind! All good, I figured it out. Thank you all for your assistance on this one!

Cheers!
How did you solve this??? I have the exact same problem. Round seal and all I can find is the square seal version - also if anyone is in doubt, the Round Seal verson has 63ish mm between the mounting holses and the Square has 61mm so they do not fit
My problem is that the electric motor is burned out - tried all the tricsk but need a new one - Really need help if anyone is knows?!

What did you figure out I’m in the same boat can’t find any parts I rebuilt the Cylinder but it still won’t work and I know my pump motor is good
Did you resolve your issue? I am in the same "Boat" hand have the Round Seal version. Need a new electric motor which is build into the housing so need to find the "Round Seal" version or any other hack that woks - just not the Square seal version which will not fit.

What is your engine serial number?
09796937 - It's build in Belgium so can not look it up. This seems to be the right documentation:
This seems to be the right Trim version:
Still does not help me a lot since they show the square seal version as the new part?
