Long time lerker 1st time poster. The hour meter on the Tach has decided to stop working (stays blank) the tach works . I've tried removing wires and cleaning them without any change. Anyone have a suggestion on where to look next? I have a 2004 185sp with 4.3 i/o if that makes a difference. TIA.

Ugh annoying. It's probably just the display itself that pooped out. Dunno if it's worth it to you to dissect the gauge and see if there is a display that you can get that fits the gauge. You'd have to desolder the old one and solder in a new one. Digi-Key, Mouser, etc sell the parts. Usually there will be a part number on the component that will allow you to either find the direct replacement or cross reference to one that is similar. However being that the gauge is at least 19 years old I wouldn't have my hopes up. You'd be left with a gauge in pieces and no way to fix it.

Ayuh,..... Probably internally within the gauge itself,....
The manufacturer may, not may not be willin' to fix it for ya,......

I'd just mount a stand alone gauge somewhere, 'n tap into the ignition circuit to power it,....

edit: O2batsea, you type faster than my single digit I guess,.....

Or your other choice to consider trying is sending the gauge into either one of these two companies that handles “marine gauge repairs”.

This one has had good success with past members,

Just learned of this place,

FYI ats4soulitions said they don't repair this type of gauge. Gauge saver said to ship it to them and they'd let me know if they can repair it.
