    Yes, I shifted it on the bench...it shifts into forward and back to neutral, then it shifts into reverse but the prop shaft won't engage in reverse.

    How should the shift follower be set when I slip the prop shaft in the gear case. My problem is once I get everything set and reassembled I have neutral and forward, but no reverse. And it seems to me like all the gears are in very good shape I'm wondering if it's a shift follower issue. Thanks...

    I just rebuilt my lower unit all new shift components, and all the seals. The gears all look good no worn or rounded gear edges. I reassembled it and shifted great on the bench. When I put it back on the motor it shifts perfectly from neutral to forward and then back to neutral but it will not...

    help with shifter cam on a 1985 75 hp mercury

    I am just starting to reassemble my lower unit and was just checking a couple things. if i put the shift shaft in the gearcase thru the shifter cam it spins 360 deg. i was expecting it to only go a few deg each way. is it supposed to spin all the way around at this point?. thank you!
