    2000 ELPTO 50HP grinding when trying to shift into reverse

    I have a 2000 Mercury ELPTO 50HP that engages fine in forward but instead of shifting into reverse, just grinds. I'm not the mechanic on this one but someone looked at it and said the gears themselves were fine. I found articles that mention the alignment of things when you put it back...
