    That has been my guess, but unfortunately the parts pages I have looked at don't have any control box diagrams. 1977 does but it is slightly different from mine and 1980 is completely different. Also, I don't see any Evinrude specific branding on the motor, just Johnson, but the Johnson model...

    I don't know which part numbers I am looking for, because I am unable to work out what to look up. A picture of the model number will add no more information. The model number is clearly 70879C. Even a year of manufacture would help.
