Are you checking continuity with the wires disconnected from the stator plate leads? You can try that and then check for spark. Sometimes the points will get lightly corroded and make a weak spark, particularly if it was stored in a damp area.

Yes, stop switch just shorts out the breaker points, one of which is grounded while the other one is open. Switch is supposed to be push in and HOLD to stop motor.

1989 Evinrude 200xp E200STLCEB No Cooling water to heads

Ha! The vanes shouldn't turn around that easily. If what you know on assembly direction is true and rotation is clockwise from top, maybe a defective water pump and/or impeller. Some motors used on twin applications have where each prop rotates differently through gear case design.

Right on both comments above. That tiny twin fires 2 times with each revolution. No wonder so smooth. 4 stroke single fires once in two revolutions. Huh?

I have a 2006 Johnson 115 hp outboard that leaks oil at the prop shaft

If it truly is gear oil, how does the shaft surface look where the seals ride? Installing the seals like this?

I have run Amsoil Saber, since 2004, at 40:1 in all bushing motors. In 1964 we notice needle bearings in most critical locations, except motors under 5.5 horsepower. I go with 64:1 Saber oil on these....non oxy fuel only. I've never damaged a motor in any way. But perhaps I've only been very...

    Johnson 15hp 2 stroke 1997

Yes okay. I often use QL77JC4 also....gapped at around .030. they cost about $4 each here. I'm part Irish. Bucket list is come over someday.

Yes....Spain? Where do you live? Often spark plugs are overlooked. Did the troubles begin after a storage period?

Looking to buy a bass boat and what motors should I avoid and what motors should i go for?

Force/Mercury were basically what was left over from Chrysler, (started about 1964)...purchased in the mid 80's...really not bad motors. I still have a few around here from 3.5 to 25 HP, however....I am a pretty decent outboard mechanic. Agree with Racer....Johnson/Evinrude, then Mercury...

Anyone here rebuild OMC pressure fuel tanks ?

Is it a 4 or 6 gallon tank? Needs to hold 9 psi. Beautiful system, no way water can leak in. Motor burns fumes too, instead of venting to outside air. They are not difficult to rebuild.

Why you shouldn’t buy Chinese coils

Yes I have had trouble with certain items in particularly CDI coils for small engines, chain saws. But yes they can certainly build some good stuff when they want to. Most of it boils down to keeping stuff super cheap and competitive, but their engineers are pretty good overall. I have done...

Also no ethanol. Just had this "Fisherman" 6 in for repair.

    New spark plugs?

    Johnson RDE 17R repair

Yes you could do that, I have done it....converting to suction and a regular tank. The pressure tank is brilliant engineering, however. Only thing that wrecks them is ethanol....because they have rubber parts, ethanol destroys rubber. The society's way to destroy our old stuff, make us buy new...

About to get a new boat

Ha....wife has a 150. It's a beast....non oxy only, brother. If it's had ethanol used in it....I would follow Fitz.
