Hi all, 1994 Mercruiser 5.7 V8. Serial: 0F418132. Port side exhaust elbow (between the two rubber boots is running very hot after starting the engine. I removed the manifold and elbow and cleaned the waterways. I have pumped water through the manifold and elbow and have full flow I have...
lmao, power steering cooler! since when did a power steering cooler have coolant on one side and raw sea water on the otherside?
You are right i need professional help/advice. So you'd best sit this one out'
looks like i am confusing things! i previously mentioned a stainless elbow. This elbow was at the water inlet to the cast iron exhaust manifold, not an actual stainless exhaust elbow.
Also i think i misunderstood the meaning of a riser. I thought that was the name for the cast iron exhaust...

Hi Jack, they are cast iron. The engine has a coolant heat exchanger, the sea water runs through the manifold and risers, does this mean it is a closed cooling circuit or standard.
Steve

Going to stick with the stainless fittings.
Thanks for your thoughts on it.

Thanks for the replies and apologies for lack of information!.

Hi all, i have a problem with the temperature gauge temp running higher than normal. I have replaced the impeller (slight damage) but still the same. I noticed that the starboard exhaust elbow was running hotter than the port side after a short run (60 SB/30 P degrees celsius). i removed the...

Do i just pick the existing seals out with with a spike, not worrying about destroying them or is there a technique.
