    Prop Issue

Thanks, I was able to fashion a wheel puller using ratchet strap material looped around each blade. Came off pretty easy. All dried grease inside. Will now do yearly.

    Prop Issue

Thanks! I did some googling and understand it's not uncommon. At least I know there's nothing left to unscrew.

    Prop Issue

Thanks. That's what I thought. I doubt it's ever been off. Been used in salt but don't believe it sat.

    Prop Issue

Hi- feeling stupid. I have a '95 90 hp ELPTO that I am trying to remove the prop on. I have removed the nut and the retaining washer with the tabs. According to everything I've seen, the prop should slide right off but it won't budge. Am I missing something? ---Thanks, Rich (the liquid you...

'95 90 hp Merc Shift Question

'95 90 hp Merc Shift Question

I just picked up a '95 90 hp Merc ELPTO. In the most recent repair work the previous owner indicated a clicking noise in neutral. The work order states that there is no more adjustment left on the shift cable. I know cables are not supposed to stretch so does it mean something else is worn or...

    Sparkplug Gap

A general question here. My owners manual says to gap the NGK plug at .035". NGK (per this site) says to gap the same plug at .028". So I'm confused which I should do? Thanks, Rich

    Thermostat Gasket

Just received these gaskets that have the 3'd hole in them with the brass grommet for grounding I guess. Both the thermostat housing and the cover surfaces are flat. Can I still use these? Worried about the the brass not making a tight seal. Or does it crush right down? Thanks, Rich

    Cooling Question

I have a closed system cooling on my V-6. Running on the trailer I have the sea water intake closed and run the freshwater hose into the strainer. I run it at the recommended up to 1200 rpm. When warming up I can see the temp gauge go up and then see the thermostat kick in. Using the gun...

    Rochester Inlet Leak Quad

Hi- At least I think it's the inlet. Trying to work thru using new washers etc and having no luck. Right below the inlet nut is a piece that protrudes out about and inch or so, maybe finger size diameter, appears to be some kind of plastic. Does anyone know what it is? It doesn't show...

    Dexron Question

Is there a general rule of thumb on when to change your transmission fluid? By number of engine hours or age? I couldn't find anything in my old operation manual, only the spec for the fluid. Thanks, Rich

    Oil Pressure

Another gauge question. What would cause the oil pressure gauge to be pegged all the way to the right when the engine is running? Thanks, Rich

    Hour Meters

Hi- Do they go bad? Mine (not digital) just quit and was working. I verified 12v to it when it was running. Anything else I should check? Thanks, Rich
