I guess at this point I am considering replacing the control box along with the cables. Call me simple, but wondering why the single lever, dual action instead of dual lever single action. It just seems like it would be more straight forward and less mechanically problematic. Put it in gear and...
As i said the motor side is post 1979, unless the black barrel is removable and can be reinstalled on the bare cable end. I do not see a slot or any way to remove it and reinstall though.
Again not familiar with this type of cabling, so if im missing something, please let me know.
It appears to...
My question now is type of cable. The motor side is definitely post 1979.
I did video underneath the console and the back side of control box. Unfortunately, I can not tell the type of end. All I can see is a brass rod/tube that terminates in a black plastic block on the one side. Im thinking...
Also, looking at adapter or end styles, it appears to be post 1979 style with the 4" long black barrel on the motor side and thin silver tongue lever side.
I can not seem to find an example of the top mount console control lever style I have. There are a lot of variations to figure out. Luckily...
Im up in the air on that. The cable that runs to the throttle linkage looks to have been replaced at some point and definitely newer than cable running to transmission linkage. I think I ve found them, 33 or 3300 series. Still trying to work out 12ft., 13ft., or 14ft.
That's what i was thinking. Thanks. I did confirm there is a metal tray that runs straight back to transom and some access section can be lifted out in front of transom.
Looks like i may have found the culprit. Anyone know how to repair or reseat a new brass end on cable cover? I am a little apprehensive about snaking in a new cable assembly, but maybe i need to.
Hi all, new to forum and specifically boating and boat motors in general. Just purchased an older center console boat with this motor. Motor by itself runs great. Many of the secondary system components replaced and or repaired. Trying to trouble shoot an issue when prop is engaged. Not sure if...
