    1982 115hp charging system problems

    I have a 1982-3 115hp Mercury outboard. It runs great until I hook up the rectifier, then runs rough and will not run over 1500 rpm. I have replaced the rectifier, and the two switch boxes. Anyone have other ideas? thanks, Don

    115 hp

    I have a 1987 115 hp outboard. It runs great until I hook up the charging system and then it runs rough and will not come up to above 1500 rpm. I have replaced the switch boxes and put a new rectifier on. Can anyone help with what the problem might be? Thanks, Don
