    Here is some background to my question. I have a 83 nautique with a Mercruiser MIE 260 (Chevy 350 small block). I've had the boat for 12 years and used it frequently with no hassle. The motor is a RH/reverse rotation. The timing works with a gear. The crank rotates reverse and everything else...
